Overview

In the Biological Chemistry Group, we aim to develop pharmaceuticals by understanding biological phenomena at the molecular level based on organic synthetic chemistry and further controlling these phenomena. In particular, we focus on glycans, whose functional analysis has not yet been sufficiently advanced due to their complex and diverse structures. We precisely synthesize glycans and work to elucidate and control their functions. In the future, we aim to develop glycan-based therapeutics, which currently have very few practical applications. We are also investigating molecular recognition and reaction mechanisms involving nucleic acids and proteins.
